Ultrasound examination (US) is one of the most popular non-invasive methods of examining internal organs and systems, which allows us to assess their structure, and in some cases, their functioning.

Ultrasound is a simple, safe and one of the most accurate methods of diagnosing the structure of organs, which is why it is widely used. Ultrasound diagnostics has no contraindications for adults and children, which makes it indispensable in pediatrics. The use of expert-level equipment allows us to identify the slightest structural changes in various organs and systems.

How to prepare for an ultrasound?

Preliminary preparation may be required before an ultrasound examination. It all depends on what part of the body is being examined.

Before an ultrasound of the abdominal organs, it is recommended not to eat for 6-8 hours before the procedure, so that the results are more accurate.

For a transvaginal ultrasound, the bladder must be empty

Be sure to tell your doctor if you have recently undergone an endoscopic examination of the stomach or intestines.

Transrectal ultrasound of the prostate requires preliminary bowel cleansing and is performed with a full bladder.

Ultrasound of the thyroid gland, joints, soft tissues, heart or blood vessels and others do not require special preparation.
